In 2000, Dean Cain’s life shifted again when he became a father to Christopher, his son with ex-girlfriend Samantha Torres. Cain named his son after his adoptive father, director Christopher Cain — the man who raised him after his biological father abandoned him as a child.
Dean once admitted, “I never knew him, never met him,” and vowed he would never repeat that cycle of abandonment.
A Custody Battle and a Choice
Cain and Torres went through a lengthy custody battle, and in 2011 Dean was awarded sole custody of Christopher. From that moment forward, Cain dedicated his life to raising his son alone.
