A Ukrainian model claims she was told “You belong to us” before being thrown from a roof after a Dubai “porta potty party.” Her survival sheds light on a disturbing trend of exploitation.

A chilling new BBC documentary, Death in Dubai: #DubaiPortaPotty, has reignited global concern about the disturbing world of so-called “porta potty parties” in Dubai. These alleged gatherings lure young women—often aspiring models and influencers—into a dangerous world of exploitation under the promise of luxury, wealth, and glamorous careers.

One survivor, Ukrainian model Maria Kovalchuk, has come forward with a harrowing account of how she narrowly escaped death. Her story adds a haunting layer to the tragic cases of Monic Karungi and Kayla Birungi, two women who reportedly fell from Dubai high-rises under suspicious circumstances that were ruled suicides.

Promises of Glamour, a Trap of Exploitation

Kovalchuk, who had around 7,000 Instagram followers, revealed she only ended up in Dubai after missing a connecting flight to Thailand. While waiting in a hotel lobby, she was approached by a young Russian man who invited her to a party. He claimed his father could fly her to Thailand on a private jet.

Tempted by the offer, she went along—only to find herself in what she describes as a nightmare.

“You Belong to Us”

At the party, Kovalchuk says she was mocked for not drinking. Things escalated quickly as she was pressured into performing sexual acts for wealthy businessmen. When she refused, she claims she was shoved, stripped of her passport, and told four haunting words:

“You belong to us.”

She tried to flee but was dragged back inside. She recalls smashed glass, intimidation, and even another woman stealing her belongings and walking out of the hotel in her dress.

Violence, Escape, and a Suspicious Fall

According to Kovalchuk, the men became violent when she resisted. At one point, she escaped to a nearby construction site—but her captors found her and allegedly beat her.

Her memory after that is hazy. Doctors later confirmed her injuries were consistent with either a severe beating or a fall from a height.

“I think maybe I was thrown,” she said. “Most likely, there was a blow to the head. The next thing I remember is asking for help from a passing car. They called the ambulance and police.”

She was found scalped, bloodied, and left wheelchair-bound. Her family had feared she was trafficked into sexual slavery.

No Justice, No Answers

Reports suggest that men involved were briefly detained but released without charges. Kovalchuk alleges CCTV footage was wiped, leaving “no evidence” of what happened.

Her survival is rare. Many others, like Karungi and Birungi, never lived to tell their stories.

A Pattern Too Dark to Ignore

The shocking allegations behind “porta potty parties” highlight a darker reality beneath Dubai’s glamorous image. What begins as promises of wealth and luxury often spirals into violence, exploitation, and, in some cases, death.

As Kovalchuk’s story continues to spread, pressure is mounting on authorities to investigate and prevent more women from falling victim to this dangerous underground network.
