Acupuncture has been used in China for thousands of years, and selecting the right points can significantly reduce physical pain or mental imbalances, as well as improve general well-being.
Bright Side selected a few well-known pressure points which you can make use of in everyday situations.
Location. The Three Miles Point is located about 1.5 inches below the knee cap.
Use. It can help to improve the work of the digestion system and help treat various stomach aches, vomiting and nausea.
Bend the legs and apply firm pressure for one minute.
Location. The Third Eye Point can easily be found between your eyebrows.
Use. It helps with headaches, depression, chronic fatigue, and stress.
Apply gentle pressure for one minute.
Location. The Pericardium Point is located on the inner forearm about 3 fingers from the wrist, right between two tendons.
Use. It helps to provide relief from nausea, vomiting, and motion sickness.
Apply firm pressure and massage for 4-5 seconds.
Location. The Tong Zi Liao Point is located in the corner of the eye.
Use. It can help with migraines and reduce eye fatigue.
Slowly rub the point with your fingertips until you feel relief.
Location. The Big Rushing Point is between the big toe and the second toe, one and half inches behind them both.
Use. It’s a very popular pressure point to relieve headaches, eyes tiredness and foot cramps, and also can help to improve concentration.
Press and hold for one minute.
Location. The Sea of Tranquillity Point can be easily found in the center of the chest.
Use. It helps an individual to calm down and get relief from anxiety, depression, hysteria and other emotional issues.
Gently press and hold for one minute.
Location. The Joining the Valley Point is situated between the thumb and index finger.
Use. This point is very useful for getting relief from toothache, neck and shoulder pain, and headaches.
Apply pressure and hold or massage for a minute.
Location. The Yongquan Point is located on the sole between the second and third toes.
Use. Useful for dealing with headaches, nausea, and fainting.
Apply pressure with your fingertips and hold for one minute.
Location. The Gates of Consciousness Point is located near the sides of the neck, at the base of the skull.
Use. It can help deal with headaches, migraine and dizziness.
Apply pressure and hold for one minute.
Location. The Wind Mansion Point is located on the back of the head, in the center of the hollow below the skull.
Use. It helps to relieve headache, sore throat, and nosebleeds.
Apply firm pressure with your fingertip and hold for one to two minutes.
Location. The Sea of Vitality Point is located on the waist line, about 2-4 fingers on each side away from the spine.
Use. It helps to get relief from stomach pain, abdominal pain and indigestion.
Apply pressure on each point for one minute.
Location. The Triple Heater 6 Point is located about 3 inches up from the wrist.
Use. It can help to reduce bloating.
Apply pressure for one minute, first on one arm, then on the other, until you feel relief.
Location. The Kunlun Mountains Point is between the ankle bone and the Achilles tendon.
Use. It provides relief for neck, shoulder and back pain.
Apply firm pressure for one minute.
Location. The Crooked Pond Point can be found on the crease of the bent elbow, closer to the elbow.
Use. It helps to get relief from cold and hay fever, and sore throats. It also helps to improve the functioning of the immune system.
Bend the elbow, apply pressure with your thumb and massage or hold for one minute. Change arm and repeat.
