Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to 50 months in prison and fined $500,000 after being convicted of prostitution-related crimes under the Mann Act.
Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, 55, has been sentenced to 50 months in federal prison and ordered to pay a $500,000 fine after being convicted on prostitution-related charges. The sentencing took place on October 3 in a Manhattan courtroom, marking a dramatic downfall for one of hip-hop’s most influential figures.
The Conviction
Combs was arrested last September on multiple charges, including sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and racketeering conspiracy. While he was cleared of several of the most serious accusations during the summer trial, a jury found him guilty of two counts of transportation for engagement in prostitution—a violation of the Mann Act, which prohibits interstate travel for the purpose of prostitution.
Each charge carried a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, but Judge Arun Subramanian ruled that a sentence of just 14 months, as proposed by Diddy’s defense, would not be sufficient.
“The time he spends behind bars will be hard, but he will still have a life afterwards,” Judge Subramanian said.
Allegations and Testimonies
During the trial, prosecutors described Combs’ infamous “freak-offs”—drug-fueled, multi-day sex parties where he allegedly paid sex workers and women to travel across state lines for participation.
One conviction stemmed from encounters involving Cassie Ventura, Diddy’s former girlfriend, who gave an emotional testimony against him. Another charge involved a woman who has not been named publicly.
Prosecutors argued that Combs has shown no remorse, writing in a pre-sentencing submission:
“He is not the victim. The Court should focus on the very real effects that the defendant’s conduct had on the lives of the actual victims.”
Cassie testified that she still fears Combs’ potential release.
The Defense
Combs’ legal team requested a reduced sentence of no more than 14 months, claiming that he had already suffered enough during his 13 months behind bars awaiting sentencing. They argued his ex-girlfriends were not victims of trafficking or assault and maintained that Combs has changed while in custody.
His attorneys also cited incidents where Combs remained calm under prison threats and acknowledged that drug abuse fueled many of his poor decisions. However, the court rejected his bid to overturn the conviction.

Combs has been held since July, following his conviction. With the new sentence, he faces nearly four more years in prison, though time served will count toward his total.
